DASK is a national umbrella organization and registered Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) operating under the Public Benefit Organizations (PBO) Act, 2013. We exist to amplify the voices of Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) across Kenya, ensuring they are included, protected, and empowered in every sphere of life—from health and justice to economic empowerment and leadership. We are not just an organization; we are a network of affiliate organizations spread across the country, working in unison to dismantle barriers and build a truly inclusive Kenya.
DASK was born from a vision of grassroots resilience. In 2019, our founder, Mr. Festus Mwanza Kaluki, established a Community Based Organization (CBO) known as Phyalbi Community Based Organization. Recognizing the need for a larger, more structured impact, Phyalbi transformed into a Public Benefit Organization and later formally registered as an NGO in 2022 under the PBO Act 2013.
Today, DASK operates as a leading umbrella organization for affiliate member organizations across various counties, championing disability advocacy, research, and service delivery at both the local and national levels.
A just, inclusive, and sustainable society where all Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) in Kenya enjoy equal rights, opportunities, and dignity
To strengthen the capacity of our network and affiliate members, advocate for inclusive policies, empower PWDs economically and socially, and ensure access to quality health, legal, and education services through strategic partnerships and community-led systems.
